First Day of School

I can't believe that our summer is over and school is ready to start back up.  How lucky we are to actually be starting school and the kids are able to attend in-person.  I know there are many schools across the country that aren't as lucky.  This year, Carter is in 2nd grade and his teacher is Mrs. Decker.  Man, we just love Mrs. Decker!  I am so glad that Carter was able to be in her class.  She is the gifted-and-talented teacher and because Carters math scores were so high, they offered him the opportunity to be in her class.  Daxton will be starting 4th grade with Ms. Green.  She is also a gifted-and-talented teacher.  Man, I don't know where my kids got their smarts from?!?! Kennedy is starting 11th grade and is still doing Success Academy (and Pine View for volleyball).  How do I have a kid in 11th grade??

The boys had their back to school night two days before school started, so that is where we were able to get a picture of them with their teacher.  I was told that we were only allowed to drop off the kids on the first day of school and would not be allowed in the building.  So, I guess these are the pictures that I will get this year.  Looking forward to see with this school year will bring.

JULY 2020

 We are still knee deep in apricots from Cathy.  I only did fruit leather this year.  Cathy and Cory are looking to sell their house, so if this is the last year I get apricots, I better get as much fruit leather as I can.

The kids are doing everything they can to keep themselves entertained during this quaratine covid summer.  

On the 3rd (and a couple other days this month) we were able to go over to Cathys and take a swim in the pool.  It wasn't much, but at least we got out of the house.  And, I obviously forgot to put on sunscreen!!

We were able to watch Kyle get ordained an elder through Zoom.  It's kinda weird to do it this way, but at least we were able to be a part of it - something that wouldn't have happened if we weren't in the middle of this whole covid mess.

Kennedy was able to attend the DHHS Team Volleyball Camp.  It took place of the normal Dixie State Volleyball Camp.  I think the college was a little more cautious than the high schools are being.  Either way, it was nice to have her be able to do something she enjoys this summer.

After lots of time and effort (mostly on Brooke's part) Santa Clara's BMX track finally had their first official race night.  It is such a nice facility and so good to have a track much closer to home.  I know the boys will be spending lots of time here!

   The only other thing happening this month is slow progress on the new house.  We got approved for financing and we are going to hold off on selling the house we are currently in - I'm still trying to talk Jay into keeping it as a rental, but we will see how things go when we finish the other house.  We were able to meet with a couple people and make some selections on flooring, cabinets, and our front door.  And we have officially started the building process - got the paperwork started and got the sign put up!!

Trampoline Star Gazing

 It's been so nice outside once the sun goes down that we decided to take the kids out and look at the stars.  Don't ask me how we started talking about scary stories, but we eventually let each of the kids take a turn telling a story.  I think the boys like when they have our undivided attention because once it was their turn to tell the story, they never seemed to end.  After about an hour on the tramp, we figured we better actually put the kids to bed and we went back in.  But what a fun little together family activity.  I am sure we will do this several more times before the summer is over.

Carter turned 7 on 7/7!!

I can't believe that my baby is 7!!  We had a pretty low-key birthday this year for both boys because of the Covid-19 pandemic.  Carter crawled through his room decorations when he first woke up.  Then he crawled back into his room so that I could get pictures of him breaking through it - what a good kid I've trained, hehehe!  When we opened his blinds, he discovered that Cathy and Dacy had left him a poster with a scavenger hunt on it.  He had to find seven 7's and several stars with different pictures on them.  It was fantastic - it kept both Carter and Dax busy for hours!!  Throughout the day he got birthday deliveries and phone calls.  He even gave "air-hugs" to everyone that dropped off a present.  Our little Carter Sauce was spoiled with more Lego sets than I could count!!  Carter requested Panda Express for lunch and peas & potatoes for dinner.  After dinner we smashed open the Buzz Lightyear (or "Woody's best friend" as Carter called him) pinata and opened presents.  Along with more Legos, he got the Adams Family movie, the 2nd Who's your Hero book, a Giant Hershey bar, and package of M&M's.  We had the traditional Dairy Queen ice cream cake with Jim from Trollhunters on the front.  Oh, I almost forgot to mention that we received a phone call from Amy today too.  She called to wish Carter a happy birthday and we sang "Happy Birthday" to her too. All in all, it was a pretty good day.  To quote Carter, "It's been my best birthday so far!"  We love our little Carter Sauce.
